A Maui Bed and Breakfast team flying high

In December, Jim and Eva, along with other guests of this Maui Bed and Breakfast decided to check out the Flyin’ Hawaiian Zipline (http://flyinhawaiianzipline.com) above the Kahili Golf Course and the Kamehameha Golf Cours. We play golf at Kahili from time to time and when we do, we hear great laughter coming from above. We really weren’t sure if it was our golfing abiliites or the ride making everyone laugh but decided to find out.

This zipline tour was incredible. The entire experience was one of the best tours we have done on Maui. We called Flyin’ Hawaii from the breakfast table here at the bed and breakfast on the beautiful island of Maui  at 9:00 am in the morning. We wanted to go that day but all of the tours were sold out. We had 6 people so they added a tour for us at 3 pm.

Not only was the tour beautiful and the guides some of the nicest maui has to offer, but they do this for a great cause. They are, at least in part, “saving the mountain”. Check out their website “conservation” tab.

While in Maui, you can’t go wrong if Flyin Hawaiian is on your list, if it is not, it should be.

We at Maui, What A Wonderful World B&B are so happy we did this.

Kermit is wrong, its easy being green!

Although I am a little late in posting, Maui What A Wonderful World, Bed and Breakfast is now a little (well a lot) greener! The Maui Sun is making us proud. Once our “green team” carried all 57 Solar Panels up a flight of stairs,IMG_1299

IMG_1298then up a rickety latter, all 57 panels were installed and ready to work. What a beautiful sight!

And the Green Team is here again!

The PV System at Maui What A Wonderful World, Bed and Breakfast is coming along. Two days and it already looks like something big is going on in Maui. The Maui sun is going to be very kind to us. We should be able to provide all the comforts to our guests without hurting the environment! That goodness for our Green Team. Thank you! Pono and Joe!

The Maui What A Wonderful World, Bed and Breakfast Green Team

Now that the new roof is on and looking great and green, it is time to put the real “green” team on the job. Pono and Joe, two wonderful people are at work installing 57 PV panels on our new roof. I think for Pono and Joe anyway, Kermit is right. “it isn’t easy being green”.

They have already spent two very hot days measuring the roof at our Maui Bed and Breakfast home.

Thank you Pono IMG_1275

and Joe IMG_1276

for all of your hard work. We will watch it progress over the next few days

Green is a great color at Wonderful World, Bed and Breakfast

Anyone who has stayed with us here a Maui What A Wonderful World, Bed and Breakfast for the past year has heard me talking about our Solar Electric Panels. With a new PV system we can not only reduce our carbon footprint but also that of our guests while staying in Maui and sharing the bed and breakfast experience.

While going through the process of researching the PV System, the requirements from both the electric company and the County of Maui we have learned a lot and enjoyed the people we have worked with to make this to happen. Starting with a new roof. With a few hiccups on that end, (strictly my misunderstanding), the roof took a bit longer than expected.  We had two great roofers helping us. Ram Roofing was great, ordered the roofing material we wanted, had it stored and ready for us. Through my own misunderstanding, I thought he could not do the roof. I then had an angel call me. Dale Siegert stepped in and helped. He was here immediately, did an incredible clean, fast job. Not only was my roof done in record time, they were so nice, so clean, so efficient and so dependable! and at a great rate! Who could ask for anything more.

We started this process is June 2013.

July 2014 has given us a new roof an the work on the PV System has begun.

Thanks to Dale of Solar Direct in Florida, we have a great PV System for an incredible price. They send everything you need right down to the screws, nuts and bolts for a complete system.

Our new system was delivered on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. The people at DHX, Dependable Hawaiian Express were wonderful! They picked up the PV system, held it for us for almost 2 months and then delivered it when needed to our bed and breakfast here in Maui right on time with no hiccups or problems.

And soon we will be reducing or carbon footprint and helping our guests do the same.

Guava Suite’s new relaxing outside space

Waking one morning, Jim decided that there was something missing from the guests experience at Maui What A Wonderful World, Bed and Breakfast. He decided the guests in the Guava Suite deserved to have an outside sitting area to enjoy the Maui breezes and the Maui sunshine as much as all other suites did.  He began digging up and replanting he Maui Ginger planted outside the suite and made a beautiful little sitting area. Now guests in the Guava Suite at our bed and breakfast can enjoy their own private outside relaxing area just outside their door.

Mama’s Fish House, Great for all

We, Jim and Eva, left our Maui Bed and Breakfast to dined with good friend last night at Mama’s Fish House in Paia.

Mama's Fish House Beach Front Mama's From the Front

Just doesn’t matter how many time you dine over there in Paia at Mama’s Fish House it is always wonderful. Of course we have never veered off course so we can only vouch for the one dish we get. EVERY TIME we go.  The crab and lobster stuffed Mahi Mahi is out of this world,

Unfortunately, this picture does not do the dish justice. We usually add the fresh Ahi Sashimi for an appetizer (pupu), and finishing it off with (although most people rave about the Tahitian Pearl) the Kuau Mud Pie! We ate them so fast, there was no time for pictures, oops!

We have to thank our good friends Rob and Joanne for sharing the evening with us. Good food, good friends, what more could one ask for?

How about a little bit of exquisite atmosphere? Makes for a perfect evening in Maui!

Paia Fish Market for Lunch

Paia Fish House is a favorite of ours for lunch.IMG_0755

As Bed and Breakast hosts we are constantly looking for great spots to send our guests, but some of the old favorites continue to in out.

Jim and I can’t resist the seafood salad with cajun mahimahiIMG_0752

Although Jim usually sticks with the salad, every once in a while Eva has to go for some delicious fish and chips IMG_0753

IMG_0748and then we end the meal with chocolate devotion from Coldstone. What a great lunch.

We have been sending guests of the B&B here for years. We still think it is one of the best lunches on Maui!
